Barcelona, Spain
Software & Technology
Barcelona Open Tech Week 2026 is a week-long event held in Barcelona, Spain, beginning on 26 October. This second edition serves to establish the city as a global benchmark in the fields of open technologies, digital rights and democratic innovation. The event focuses on rethinking the future of the internet through the lenses of technological sovereignty, open source and digital democracy. It is designed for a broad range of participants, including public institutions, digital communities, academia and civil society, all united by the conviction that technology should serve the public rather than corporate interests. The format of the week combines several distinct initiatives held across different city venues. It features MozFest at Fabra i Coats and Decidim Fest at the Canòdrom. Additionally, the programme incorporates the Open Source Policy Summit and the 4D Conference. These collaborative elements provide a structured environment for attendees to explore an alternative technological model that prioritises open-source principles and digital rights within the framework of modern democratic innovation and technological governance.
